Also known as Willis-Ekbom Disease (WED) or Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)
Restless Leg Syndrome is known as an uncontrollable urge to move their legs, people wake up from sleep at night with an uncomfortable sensation in their legs. Patients have a common complaint that they can’t feel their feet, or their legs ache when they lay down for bed. Some patients don’t even know that they suffer from the disease as they manage it while still asleep only to hear from their partner the next morning about the “leg fits” they had last night. They wake up to stretch , stomp, massage their legs to stop the discomfort so they can go back to sleep again, only to have it again.
Many state there is no known cause for RLS. What we have found at Lumiere is that with treatment of Venous Insufficiency that we have been able to resolve symptoms of RLS without medication. With treatment we have had patients able to sleep “restfully” again for the first time in years.
Come in today for an evaluation to see if you have Venous Insufficiency if you suffer from the symptoms of RLS. Read more about it here at the MAYO clinic.
Take care, see you soon.
