FOAM VENOUS ABLATION
A Polidocanol venous ablation is a minimally invasive procedure that allows closure of a targeted vein from within utilizing a detergent.
ADVANTAGES
Minimally invasive treatment strategy that can be utilized very low on the lower leg, near the ankle.
Little to no downtime.
Lower treatment access of the limb as no heat component so no worries for nerve injury.
Less pain at the time of the procedure as tumescent is not required at the time of treatment.
DISADVANTAGES
For many insurances, use of Polidocanol Foam Vein Sclerotherapy must be done as adjunctive, meaning an initial treatment must be performed first. Polidocanol Foam may be used if a segment of vein was unable to be accessed and treated by heat or adhesive based avenues.
Allergies to detergents prevent its application and use.
