VENASEAL
A Venaseal venous ablation is a minimally invasive procedure that allows closure of a targeted vein from within utilizing an adhesive.
This same adhesive has been used for hemorrhagic strokes successfully.
ADVANTAGES
Minimally invasive treatment strategy that can be utilized very low on the lower leg, near the ankle.
Lower treatment access of the limb as no heat component so no worries for nerve injury.
Less pain at the time of the procedure as tumescent is not required at the time of treatment.
DISADVANTAGES
The adhesive is a foreign body and therefore subject to possible infection.
Allergies to adhesives prevent its application and use. For patients who develop adhesive allergies excision of adhesive may be necessary.
